Proudly 100% New Zealand owned and operated, Northland Waste is a vertically integrated Waste Company specialising in waste collection, transfer station operations, recycling and has a 50% shareholding in a Joint Venture Landfill (Puwera) with the Whangarei District Council.

Northland Waste is the largest collector of household refuse in the Northland Region and provides waste collection services to both commercial and household customers from Puhoi to Cape Reinga. In addition to collection of its own private prepaid rubbish bags and wheelie bins, Northland Waste holds contracts with the Whangarei District Council and Far North District Council for collection of refuse and recycling.

Northland Waste Limited was formed in 2009 following the amalgamation of several independently owned refuse and recycling companies in the Northland Region. Companies integrated into the Northland Waste consortium from its inception in 2009 to now include:

Northland Waste Limited operates under the Econowaste Brand in Auckland and Wellington and the Low Cost Bins Brand in Wellington also.

Wheelie Bins

In addition to servicing weekly kerbside collections of bags, Northland Waste also offer a household wheelie bin service. Our wheelie bins are friendly on the environment, mobile, clean, tidy and animal proof!

Northland Waste discourages the use of refuse wheelie bins for green waste and household recyclables.  Please help us divert these material from landfill and use alternative recycling services.  Council Bylaws also restrict the placement of recoverable material in refuse bins in some areas.

Wheelie bins come in three sizes:

  • 80 Litre (small) – suitable for a 1-2 person household. Fits approximately: 1.3 x 60L rubbish bags
  • 120 Litre (medium) – suitable for a 2-3 person household. Fits approximately: 2 x 60L rubbish bags
  • 240 Litre (large) – suitable for a 3 or more person household. Fits approximately: 4 x 60L rubbish bags

Skip Bins

Heavy duty steel open-top skip bins are available in a range of sizes from 3 cubic metres to 9 cubic metres. Refer to the images below to see the scale of the bins.

These bins are ideal for building and construction waste, general waste, and green waste. Alternatively, the bins can be ordered for cleanfill or hardfill only.

It is important to note that our skip trucks require access that is no less than 3 metres wide and with a height clearance of 4.1 metres.

Skip bins are not suitable for hazardous items like asbestos, concrete, or tyres. We do offer special waste disposal for certain items so it is best to contact us so we can discuss your requirements.
